Symposium on Soil Organism and Health Hosted in Hangzhou

From 16 to 18 April 2023, the symposium on soil organism and health was hosted by the Soil Biology and Biochemistry Specialty Committee of the Soil Science Society of China (SSSC) and co-held by the College of Environment and Resources, Carbon-neutral of Zhejiang A&F University, and the College of Life Sciences of Zhejiang University.

 

The symposium was presided over by Prof. Haiyan Chu from the Institute of Soil Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS) and the welcome speeches were addressed by Prof. Jiabao Zhang, SSSC President, Prof. Jiasheng Wu, Vice President of Zhejiang A&F University, and Prof. Yunpeng Zhao, Associate Dean of the College of Life Sciences of Zhejiang University. There were 39 distinguished experts making reports discussing cutting-edge research, emerging technologies and trends in soil health. Prof. Jiabao Zhang stated in his academic report that nurturing healthy soil is essential for the protection and use of cultivated land and called for more attention on soil biodiversity and innovation in soil health assessment framework.

 

A training was organized after the symposium to introduce knowledge in soil microbiome data analysis and diffusion, microbiome networks analysis in R and etc.. The symposium’s success exerts positive impacts on the communication and cooperation among Chinese scholars in the field of soil organism and health.
