3rd Soil Engineering Symposium Convened in Beijing

From 23 to 25 June 2023, the 3rd soil engineering symposium was hosted by the Soil Engineering Working Committee of SSSC and organized by the College of Land Science and Technology of China Agricultural University(CAU), CAS Key Laboratory of Soil Environment and Pollution Remediation of ISSCAS and Soil Science Society of Beijing in Beijing, and attracted over 200 attendees.

 

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jianying Shang from China Agricultural University, and the welcome speeches were addressed by Prof. Baoguo Li, Dean of CAU College of Land Science and Technology, and Prof. Yuanhua Dong, Director of the Soil Engineering Working Committee. Seven plenary reports were made by professors from CAS Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAU, ISSCAS, CAS Institute of Applied Ecology and Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences under different topics such as “Research Progress and New Mission in China Flux networks Observation”, “Soil Pollution Control and Remediation Technology R&D; and Application”, and “Soil Engineering Technology’s Impacts on Soil Health”. And more than 40 experts presented their research in conversation tillage and soil fertility improvement, high-standard farmland construction, new soil engineering materials and technologies, saline soil improvement, etc., and 18 graduates also introduced their research achievements.

 

This symposium encouraged scholars to develop technology for synergizing the reduction of pollution and carbon emissions, ensure agricultural product safety and quality, solve soil problems and promote soil engineering theories and technologies application.
