Working Committee on Soil Science Education, Working Committee on Soil Science Popularization of the SSSC Seminar 2023 Hosted in Guangzhou

 

From 18 to 20 May 2023, the Working Committee of Soil Science Education and the Working Committee on Soil Science Popularization of the SSSC jointly hosted the academic seminar 2023 in Guangzhou and attracted more than 50 representatives from universities, institutes and companies.

 

The opening speeches was addressed by Prof. Kelin Hu, Deputy Director of the Working Committee on Soil Science Education and Prof. Yueyu Sui, Deputy Director of the Working Committee on Soil Science Popularization and the welcome speech was addressed by Dr. Xiaoduo Zeng from the Institute of Eco-environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences. Over ten experts from Zhejiang University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, CAS, etc. were invited to make reports on different topics such as the cultivation of interdisciplinary soil science talent in digital era, the development of science and technology backyard and the reflection on soil science popularization.

 

Prof. Nengchang Chen, Director of the Working Committee on Soil Science Popularization, concluded popularization work in the past three years and expressed, “though being considered as a niche stuff, the soil sciences is closely coo-related to human health and the sustainable development of our planet. So it’s honored to carry out the work on soil science popularization and education. ”
