2024 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation Held in Guiyang

From August 12 to 18, 2024, the 2024 conference of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation was organized by the College of Forestry, Guizhou University, the Society of Soil and Water Conservation of Guizhou province, Key Laboratory of Karst Georesources and Environment (Guizhou University), Ministry of Education, and other units. It attracted over 400 attendees to discuss research progress in soil erosion and soil-water conservation.

Prof. Delu Wang, Dean of the College of Forestry, Guizhou University, hosted the opening ceremony, Prof. Hao Feng, SSSC Vice President, and Prof. Zhihua Shi, Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation delivered their welcome speeches in which they stated the importance of soil erosion and soil-water conservation for national ecological development. The organizers invited 11 experts to deliver keynote speeches, and set up six parallel sessions for 88 experts and 99 graduate students. A half-day field trip was also scheduled to explore the natural environment, hydrogeololgy and soil-water conservation in Karst.

With high hopes, this gathering serves as a platform for revealing the real state and drawbacks of this sector and indicating a clear path for the future development.
