2024 Joint Forum of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Environment and Specialty Committee on Soil Chemistry Held in Kashgar

From August 1 to 4, 2024, the 2024 joint forum of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Environment and Specialty Committee on Soil Chemistry was organized by Kashi University, the State Key Laboratory of Soil & Sustainable Agriculture, State Key Laboratory of NBC Protection for Civilian, and other units in Kashgar, Xinjiang province, attracting over 200 attendees.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Yanzheng Gao, Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Chemistry. More than 50 renowned experts from the Institute of Eco-environmental Sciences, CAS, Nanjing University, and other universities or research institutes presented reports showcasing their research in various areas including the process of soil pollution, soil chemistry, soil health, soil remediation technologies, and agricultural product safety and public health. A field trip was organized for experts to visit the red flag farm of the Third Division where they had deep discussions with local representatives about improving saline-alkali land and technologies to increase production.

The forum advances scientific exchange and cooperation in ecological restoration and sustainable utilization, as well as indicates development direction and focuses on protection technologies and management policies for soil environment in Xinjiang.
