2024 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry & Symposium on the Cultivation of Healthy Soil and its Sustainable Utilization Held in Changchun

From June 16 to 18, 2024, the 2024 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry & Symposium on the Cultivation of Healthy Soil and its Sustainable Utilization was organized by the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGACAS), the School of Geographical Sciences, Northeast Normal University (NENU) and the National Key Laboratory of Black Soil Protection and Utilization (Preparatory) in Jilin, Changchun province.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Haiyan Chu, Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry, and welcome speeches were delivered by Prof. Ming Jiang, IGACAS Director, and Prof. Min Wei, NENU Vice President. During the seminar, more than 30 experts made oral reports in current research, technologies, and trends in soil biology, as well as the cultivation of healthy soil and its sustainable utilization. A training was also organized to share knowledge of microbial ecology and biological information with attendees.

This symposium played a positive role in sustaining soil biological functions, enhancing the productivity and environmental service functions of terrestrial ecosystems, and guaranteeing the health and sustainable development of soil.
