Top 10 programs showing China’s environmental progress announced

An eco-environment industry-academia alliance under China Association for Science and Technology has unveiled the top 10 programs that represent the scientific and technological progress China made last year in the environmental protection sector, in Beijing on Monday, the World Environment Day.

 

The 10 programs include technologies and management system for the conservation and remediation of the Yangtze River, noise pollution management closely related people’s daily life, control of heavy metal pollution in soil, nitrogen and phosphorus management in lakes, remote sensing for atmospheric aerosol detection and synergizing air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions in the steel sector.

 

The program on control of heavy metal pollution in soil was recommended by Soil Science Society of China (SSSC) and teamed up by Prof. Fangbai Li from the Institute of Eco-environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences and other experts. This research creates new way of heavy metals detoxification and carbon sequestration and mitigation in agricultural land and has been widely applied by many cities.
