Soil Science Society of China at European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2023

From 23 to 28 April 2023, the European Geosicences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2023 welcomed 18,831 registered attendees, of which 15,453 made their way to Vienna from 107 countries and 3,378 joined online from 105 countries. It was a great success with 16,357 presentations given in 938 sessions. (©EGU)

 

Prof. Xin Song, Vice Secretary-General of the SSSC, and Prof. Jun Shan of the ISSCAS attended the EGU General Assembly 2023 and promoted the World Congress of Soil Sciences (WCSS) 2026 as the organizer. The representatives ornamented the booth with panda toys, Peking Opera mask wedges, bookmarks in the shape of pipa and other gadgets featuring Chinese elements.

 

During the General Assembly, Prof. Zhou Shi, Associate Dean of the College of Environment and Resources of Zhejiang University, Prof. Genxing Pan of Nanjing Agricultural University, students from Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, CAS came to join us as volunteers to expound on Chinese culture and soil features. Prof. Xin Song and Prof. Jun Shan had active communication with attendees from Italy, Slovenia, Korea and other countries and express our wishes to host them in WCSS 2026 in Nanjing, China.
