2025 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry Held in Hohhot

From August 25 to 28, 2025, the Annual Conference of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry themed Soil Health and Biological Empowerment was co-organized by the School of Ecology and Environment of Inner Mongolia University(IMU) and the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. The event brought together more than 300 participants.

The opening ceremony was led by Prof. Haiyan Chu, Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Biology and Biochemistry, and welcome speeches were delivered by Prof. Jiabao Zhang, SSSC President, Prof. Yongguan Zhu, SSSC Vice President, and Prof. Limin Wu, IMU President. Prof. Zhang pointed out the significance of soil biology and biodiversity in addressing challenges such as climate change, soil degradation and biodiversity loss.

The conference included a plenary session and two parallel sessions. Eighteen experts, including Prof. Shenglei Fu from Henan University, presented their research on topics ranging from global change impacts to healthy soil cultivation. In the parallel sessions, 56 researchers exchanged latest findings in soil biodiversity and health management.

The conference provided a platform for academic exchange and collaboration, promoting the role of soil biological processes in enhancing ecosystem productivity and sustainability.
