2025 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation Held in Nyingchi

From August 16 to 20, 2025, the Annual Conference of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation was co-hosted with the Specialty Committee on Soil Erosion and Soil-water Conservation of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation and the State Key Laboratory of Soil and Water Conservation and Desertification Control in Nyingchi, Xizang. The conference brought together over 300 attendees from more than 80 universities and research institutes.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dan Wan from Xizang Agricultural and Animal Husbandry University. Prof. Hao Feng, SSSC Vice President, delivered his welcome speech in which he pointed out the importance of this discipline in advancing national ecological civilization efforts.

The conference featured 11 invited presentations and six parallel sessions covering topics such as soil erosion process, prevention technologies, and their environmental effects. A total of 80 expert reports and 52 student reports were presented. Additionally, a field visit to the Nyingchi National Field Station for Observation and Research of Alpine Forest Ecosystem and the South-East Tibetan Plateau Station For Integrated Observation And Research Of Alpine Environment offered insights into local research and conservation practices.
