26th Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Environment & Symposium on Soil Health and Pollution Remediation in the Loess Plateau Hosted in Taiyuan

From August 8 to 11, 2025, the 26th Conference of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Environment and Symposium on Soil Health and Pollution Remediation in the Loess Plateau successfully took place in Taiyuan. Jointly organized by the School of Environmental and Resource Sciences of Shanxi University, the Yellow River Laboratory of Shanxi Province and other organizations, the event gathered over 260 participants from 105 universities and research institutes.

Prof. Hua Li from Shanxi University led the opening ceremony and Prof. Yan He, Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Environment delivered her welcome speech. Eighteen invited speakers shared their insights on topics ranging from emerging contaminants control to soil remediation in mining areas. The conference centered on six themes such as soil environment in the context of global change, degradation and restoration of the Loess Plateau, and AI-driven soil management. Parallel sessions included 69 reports and 48 graduate student presentations.

This event emphasized the importance of industry-university-research-management collaboration and technological innovation for soil environment. It concluded with a working meeting where committee members discussed future development and preparations for the next academic conference.
