2025 Conference of SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Physics Concluded in Yantai

From August 2 to 5, 2025, the Annual Conference of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Physics was co-organized by the School of Hydraulic and Civil Engineering, Ludong University, the Yantai Institute of China Agricultural University and other units. This event attracted over 500 experts from 37 universities and research institutes across China, alongside 30+ renowned international scholars.
Prof. Ying Zhao, Deputy Chair of the SSSC Specialty Committee on Soil Physics, presided over the opening ceremony. Distinguished attendees included Prof. Ming’an Shao from Northwest A&F University, Prof. Brent Clothier, President of the Royal Society of New Zealand, and Prof. Dani Or from the University of Nevada. The conference featured 11 keynote presentations addressing critical topics like saline-alkali land improvement, watershed management, and global water-energy-food challenges.
Parallel sessions included three English forums on “Soil-Water-Root Interactions and Critical Zone Science”, “Ecohydrological Processes, Geomorphic Dynamics, and Isotopic Tracing” and “Integrated Water Resource Management, Numerical Simulation and AI”, plus six Chinese sessions covering soil remediation, smart agriculture modeling, water-saving techniques, and salt-affected land utilization. A total of 125 experts presented across these sessions, complemented by nearly 40 poster displays.
This conference provided an essential platform to facilitate academic exchange and collaboration in soil physics and related fields, and to strengthen global partnerships for sustainable soil management and agricultural innovation.
